When you see articles regarding the 'dithering' and 'Bush-like' behaviour of Obama it is worthwhile taking a look at a couple of things.
1. This leaked info here. Pretty damning for BP.
2. The leak was under reported rather than allowing the escalation of the incident to activate emergency responders in time.
3. BP have already announced that they will consider 'validated' claims of any oil damage. Further investigation will reveal this to be assessed by BP appointed assessors and 'apportioned assessment payments' - read 'we are not going to pay the full amount due despite this being our fault'. After all, banks get bail outs...
Compared to New Orleans and Katrina where there were several days advance notice of the coming 'perfect storm' and also regarding the several years notice of how cutbacks on levee maintenance (and a lot of other infrastructure - have you driven over an American bridge lately?) were likely to cause a problem of severe flooding.
