Over the past few weeks I have seen the following movies. My personal views and comments (with no spoilers) are below.
The Hurt Locker - Entertaining in a suspense filled way with explosions (and not). The main character is entirely forgettable as far as I am concerned. I was surprised that it won so many accolades. I give it 6/10 and that only for the odd nice vignette throughout the movie. There are better ways to spend your free time.
Shutter Island - Watched this the other night for about 35 minutes. I truly feel that this amount of time has been stolen from me, never to be returned. What an atrocious and poorly made film and from Martin Scorsese too. I was slightly shocked that such big names allowed themselves to be associated with it - Ben Kingsley, Leonardo de Caprio , Max von Sydow... Likewise, I am at a loss to determine how and why this is being favourably reviewed by others - see the IMDB comments but they do contain spoilers. Badly made, badly edited, and (in some instances) truly badly acted. I give it 1/10 for money invested in the economy. Am I the only one who thinks so?
Green Zone - After seeing 'The Hurt Locker' I was not expecting too much from 'yet another war movie'. This one however caught me by surprise. Totally enjoyable, well made, and entertaining. There was only one point in the movie where I was left in the dark ... but I promised no spoilers so will not continue. Watch and enjoy. I give it 8/10 with a high recommendation.
