Euromillions/Euromilliones - €185,000,000

UPDATE:

The € 185 Million winning ticket has been purchased in the UK. The Euromillions / Euormilliones winning numbers were 17, 19, 38, 42, 45 with lucky stars 9 and 10.

As many of you will know, the EuroMillions lottery has reached a nice sum of €171,000,000 185,000,000. Regardless of the amount, where do you go to claim your REALLY big prize. There are quite a few sites where you are able to enter the draw if you are not able to get to a machine physically and there are a significant number of scam emails destined to rob you of your bank details and take cash from you. As the saying goes, there is one born every minute and scams are essentially down to the basic numbers game which applies across selling, scamming, and many other facets of life.

Interestingly enough, there are also some 152,000,000 blogs out there... here.

The OFFICIAL site of the Euromillions Lottery is here. It is the domain registered to SLE - Service aux Lotteries who ARE the real deal. Further note that this has NOTHING to do with Camelot!

For Spain, the lottery site is ONLAE here.

For the UK the official site is The National Lottery... here.

For France, the official site is La Francaise de Jeux... here.

For Belgium, the official site is here.

For Switzerland, the official site is here.

For Luxembourg, the official site is here.

For Ireland, the offical site is here.

Now, if you take a quick visit to a couple of these sites you will notice ... bad web design (no, atrocious) on some and a different style of presentation. Currently, several of the sites above list the prize money as €152 million while others list it as €171 million, with of course the British site listing the prize in GBP... Is it any wonder people can easily be misled. Should you choose to use a none official site to enter into the draw, I would suggest taking a very careful look at what using each of these sites entails. There are a significant number of scams out there plus BE AWARE that there are some false site that have some nasty code in the background that is designed to attack your PC. I will NOT list the ones I have found as it is your responsibility to protect your PC from the everyday risks of being connected to the net. Firefox does a pretty good job of alerting you to some 'iffy' sites but the onus is on you to ensure your surfing is safe...

There was a dispute with regard to using the name 'Euromilliones' PDF here. Not sure of the status though..

The site Euromilliones.com is NOT the official site. I will not link to it but here is a screen grab of part of their front page... they cannot even be 'oficial' [sic]. In fact, if you DO go to their site you will see the statement: "This website is neither connected with, nor affiliated to, nor owned or run by Euromillions® (a registered trademark of the Company Service aux Lotteries en Europe (SLE))."

What are the statistical probabilities of winning Euromillions?

To win ANY of the prizes this is 1 in 13. To get two main numbers and a lucky number is 1 in 46. And the odds for each level rise significantly. The chances of you winning the main prize in Euromillions (the BIGGY!!) are 1 in 116,531,800.

Incidentally, the rules regarding roll-overs are set by the Jackpot Pool Cap. When the Jackpot reaches or exceeds €185,000,000, the Jackpot will remain at €185,000,000 and any additional prize money rolled over will be added to the jackpot pool for the next lower prize level i.e. 5 main numbers + 1 Lucky Star).

If the €185,000,000 Jackpot is not won, the Jackpot will be increased by €5,000,000 each week until it is won, and as explained just above, any additional prize money will be added to the jackpot pool for the next lower prize level.

I will NOT wish you luck as you can see what the odds are...

If you live in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, never mind, there is always the Viking Lottery - Onsdags Lotto or Víkingalottó Not sure of how that one works though... perhaps a thor point???
