Perhaps this is why something as simple as extending the life of a razor would be useful. First though, the basic reason razors go dull or blunt is the simple fact of corrosion caused by moisture. Ensuring the blade/s is dried after use will extend the life of a razor blade considerably. The simple action of cleaning and drying the blade/s as best as is possible will help (clearly caution in this regard is required) and perhaps the best solution is to immerse the razor in alcohol or mineral oil (or similar) to prevent corrosion. If the blade does get dull then most people simply throw the razor away. Why when there are many methods available to sharpen them including the pair of jeans hanging in your wardrobe... here. This is one device and it only costs $12.95... here.

Even Gillette themselves are being forced to admit to the lack of any info re the life of their blades... here.
