The Summer Of 1967 - San Francisco

When Hippiedom began (ish)... this was covered at the time by a BBC reporter / presenter with a unique style and approach, Alan Whicker, with his programme "Whicker's World" which ran from 1959 - 1988. In 1967 he visited San Francsico and captured a unique period in social history. Here is the first part.

He was such an icon that even Monty Python did a skit about Whicker's "birthplace", 'Whicker's Island' here.

... and of course the parody of a parody... 'Clarkson Island' here.
