... I received an invitation to Google + from someone I had never heard of. Looked like the real thing but checking the links (and with all my AV and port blocking in place) I tracked the link. The email I had tried to download a malicious piece of code (but failed) before Firefox even had a chance to go 'this is an untrusted site' alert...
So, if you should get an invite, exercise extreme caution when (if) you click on the link. Always check the link by hovering over it with a mouse and seeing at the bottom of your screen where this link may take you.
It SHOULD be something like this:
https://plus.google.com/_/notifications/emlink?emrecipient= (followed by an appropriate encoding of your email address)
Personally, I am not a fan of social network sites.... so will immediately delete any invitation regardless of who sends it.
