As this story slowly slides down the front pages as a story worthy of note, I happened across a paragraph in a Wall Street Journal story covering the search for the black boxes and the likely causes of the crash. One theory is a massive failure of computers controlling flight systems. In relation to this, here is one thing that caught my eye:
"The investigators stress it is too early to pinpoint specific causes. But whatever the eventual findings, the crash already is prompting questions about how thoroughly aviators are trained to cope with widespread computer glitches midflight."
It is not just me but that sort of reads "The pilot/s are not trained to fly a play without any computers an d have become overly reliant upon them." i.e., they manage rather than fly the plane. In fact, the article does go on to cover this... here.
