Mind you, I would not want to be the soldier here. "Easy R2, easy!"...
Given the mean weight of an obese child is 297 pounds then what will they weigh when 18 years old, in the military, with a full pack, and several chunks of shrapnel in them I do not know.
No cynicism intended there... but here ... on the other hand I will ask the question "Why are these not available for non-military purposes?". If there are some then please let me know by leaving a comment. There appears to be a lot of research and many prototypes are to be found (Google for "robots for disabled people"), but not a lot (that I can find) of REAL product.
The military ones are rather amazing though. Wonder if your medical insurance covers it?
