Certain 'muscles' need to be left alone

It is important to note the THREE DAYS in this story.

I wonder if he forgot to tighten his nuts...

The power of advertising

I just love this Flickr photo... here.

There are many things wrong with this

First of all, if you are left-handed (like me) then this is essentially a no-goer.

Second, it looks to have the potential for causing RSI big-time.

Third, it's a keyboard!!! Mixing and matching functionality has, in my experience, always been a bad thing.

Must be a different Gordon Brown...

"The foundation praised Brown's "compassionate leadership in dealing with the challenging issues facing humanity, his commitment to freedom, human dignity and the environment, and for the major role he has played in helping to stabilise the world's financial system."

Here.

The guy I know is the same one who has overseen the imposition of many intrusive policies that actually remove freedoms from individuals, spy on people with the extensive CCTV network, politicians fiddling expenses... the list is long and has a taint on the words 'freedom' and 'dignity'.

Not sure how Bono kept a straight face...

San Luca la Mayor, near Seville, Spain.

The Solucar solar power plant in Sanlucar la Mayor near Seville, Spain

Just up the road from where we live (well a couple of hours drive away) are two rather impressive solar collector sites which are visible from a distance and, during daylight hours, look like something you would expect in a Lord of the Rings film.

Here are some more photos.

Here is the company web site. They are expanding their developments globally. Spain has a lot of sunshine and, given the global warming alerts that are being shouted about, it would seem to be a good thing to convert some more areas to 'sun gathering'...

The Sweet Innocence of Youth

As a child I would occasionally see the "White Horses" TV series. I always had uncertain feelings about some of the characters. Clearly the girl was an early video game starlet...

"So you would sell your black son for a lump of sugar".
"She is the daughter of the Stud Director"
"You won't win her over with a lump of sugar"... "I'd like to"...

Here. (the original)

Here is an interesting remix.

But my favourite is the Ska mix here.

Nimble performance for MIT L337arts

Some students at MIT decided to send a camera and GPS enabled phone up (17.6 miles in fact) in a helium balloon. They expected it to last for five hours and to get some pictures. They lost contact with it. The whole thing cost $150. They got most of their stuff back. It was 25 miles away...

The video is set at 5 second time lapse shots. My favourite is upon the descent in the last 30 seconds or less where you see the remnants of the balloon and the field.

Here.

P.S. Sorry about the Nimble joke...

The Health Insurance debate

Single payer?

This video is just for the 80% of Americans who want change... here.

Wile E. Coyote gets the Bird

I often wondered what would happen were Wile E. Coyote to get the Roadrunner.

Apparently someone else has too. This video shows the consequences of success. Thanks to DP for this brilliant video.

Shake, Rattle, and Drill...

... actually that should be: Drill. Smash the rocks. Create cracks. Inject water. Catch steam. Convert to energy.

What you get though is: Drill. Smash the rocks. Create cracks. Inject water. Create earthquakes.

Here.

Thanks to GM for this one.

Typically British...

... my favourite part is when the party-goers are asked to move so the paramedics can do their job ... here.

This news item should read...

"While man grapples desperately with a bank robber a woman performs needless aerobic exercises".

Here.
